Watchout, Daddy!

Last night our little pumpkin was kicking up a storm!! Ben was finally able to feel her kicking for the first time. It was so cool because she was kicking a lot for a long time. Ben said she feels like "she's a busy little stinker!" I think she's practicing to kick our butts at "Dance Dance Revolution!!"

Pink or Blue?

It looks like my later premonitions were right on! We found out that we're going to be having a little girl. We are so excited!! We got some really good ultrasound pictures that I'll post soon. Today was my clinic's first day with a 4-D ultrasound machine, so we got some really clear pictures of her face. So now it time to start buying some cute little dresses and bows!

Predictions

Well, tomorrow is the big day. We are having our ultrasound and hopefully finding out if it is a girl or a boy. Although Ben hasn't made any predictions as to whether he thinks it's a girl or a boy, I wanted to take this time to go on record with my feelings about what the gender may be.
When I first found out I was pregnant, I didn't hardly believe there was really a baby in there. After a couple weeks though I started referring to the baby as "he." I became convinced that it was a boy. If I walked through the baby section at a store I would only look at the boy things. I started only thinking about boy names. There was no doubt in my mind that the baby was a boy. Then sometime around my thirteenth week everything changed. I started thinking, "you know, it could be a girl." From then on I've been looking at girl clothes, trying to come up with girl names, and even referring to it as "she." Right now I feel positive that it's a girl.
Tomorrow we will hopefully know for sure. I'll find out if my premonitions were more accurate at the beginning of pregnancy or after the first trimester. I know we'll be excited whatever the news is. I'm just getting so antsy to know and I will let you all know after we find out.

Kicking

Last night while I was laying in bed falling asleep I felt the baby kick for the first time. I had to make myself think about it at first to make sure that what I felt was really a kick, but there's not a doubt in my mind that it was a kick. I hollared for Ben to come in the room and told him that the baby kicked. We sat and waited for quite awhile for another one, but I didn't feel it again until this morning. It felt like a really soft punch. I have a feeling it won't be quite as exciting in a few weeks when the kicks get harder, but for now I am loving being able to feel our baby move around!

Leg Cramps!

Holy Moly! I've heard that pregnant women get more leg cramps, but no one ever told you, or me anyways, how bad they hurt! I started getting them about a week and a half ago and they just seem to be getting worse. There was one night I woke up and I couldn't bend my ankle or my knee because my calf was so cramped up. I've tried stretching, massaging, drinking more water, drinking more milk, eating bananas, and exercising and so far none of it works, at least not for any extended amount of time. So, if anyone out there knows of an effective way to get rid of or better yet prevent leg cramps PLEASE tell me!!

Am I Exercising in My Sleep?

For the past 2 days or so my stomach has felt like I've done about a thousand sit-ups or so. Now, I'm not an exerciser, so either I'm doing it in my sleep or the little munchkin is stretching out my muscles. So far pregnancy isn't exactly what I expected it to be. I'm not complaining, I'm just surprised at how much my body has changed and how I feel. I was sitting on the living room floor the other night reading the newspaper and when it was time to get up I really had to figure out how I was going to go about standing up. My stomach does not bend as well as it used to!!
I have also noticed that my center of gravity is WAY off! I have been losing my balance a lot lately. Luckily I haven't actually fallen down, but I do start wobbling and have to take a few steps to catch myself. And I don't know if this has anything to do with my center of gravity, but I have been walking into walls like crazy!! I know that they're there, but I just can't avoid them!! At least for now I have pregnancy to blame for my clutziness!!
