Latest Visit

I saw my doctor last Friday. I am now on a weekly schedule with him. It turns out that those low-carb, low-sugar diets really work. I lost one pound!! I asked him if that was okay and he goes, "I want to know how you lost it because I need to lose a pound." He said that based on my overall weight-gain for the pregnancy it's not a big deal that I lost a pound. He also told me that I'm right where I need to be for my diet. I was kinda hoping he'd say that I eliminated too much and I needed to put some chocolate back in my diet. Argh! I WILL PERSEVERE!!!!

The Diet

So I've been on the low-carb, low-sugar diet for about a week and a half now. I have been obeying the rules and I HATE IT!!! All I want is the biggest chocolate bar that I can get my hands on!! Ice-cream, M&M's, skittles, whatever. I want all of the sugar!! I have 33 days left and I'm just not sure that I can make it that long!

No Nanny 911 Necessary

Ben and I are ASTONISHED!! Sophie really amazed us this weekend. Lately she has been standing up on the chairs in the dining room which is a No No, so everytime she does it we make her stand in the corner and we tell her that she is being punished for standing on the chair. Yesterday she stood up on the chair and Ben said, "Sophie, you sit down or you're going to be punished." Well, instead of just sitting down, she got off the chair and went and sat in her corner until we told her that her punishment was over. Our jaws DROPPED!! We were even laughing under our breath because we just couldn't believe that she did that! It will be interesting to see how long this lasts, but we just had to give ourselves a pat on the back.

Diet Restrictions

I saw my doctor last Friday and he has decided to put up some diet restrictions for me. He talked to me a little more about my 3 hour gestational diabetes test and told me that even though I passed it, I barely passed it. He told me that I was right on the borderline. So from now until the end of the pregnancy I need to limit my carb and sugar intake. Right away I said that would be fine.

Then I had him look in my ears because they were really bothering me and I didn't know if I was getting ear infections or what. I was also having really bad sinus headaches that made my ears hurt worse. He took a look and told me that I had a lot of fluid in my ears and in order for my sinuses and my ears to drain more easily I should eliminate dairy products from my diet for at least 5 days. Once again I thought, no problem, I can do that.

It wasn't until I left the office and I started thinking about what I could make for lunch because I was starting to get hungry that I realized what these diet restrictions meant. Here's how the thought process went in my head:

"Maybe I'll just make a pizza for lunch - NO! That has bread and cheese."

"I guess I'll just make grilled cheese. No wait!! That has bread and cheese too!"

"Macaroni and cheese - NO!! Cheese and pasta!!"

"AAAHH!! I can't eat anything!"

It's going to be a long 6 weeks with no bread, pasta, pop, or candy.

In other news the doctor told me that the baby feels like it is in the upper 4 and lower 5 pound range. She is also in the head down position which I can tell because I'm always getting kicked in the ribs!
