Life with 2 kids...

What a change it is to go from having one child to having two!! We've been very busy, but we are loving every minute of it!!

Reese has had a pretty hard week in our opinion. She had a high bilirubin count when we checked out of the hospital which meant that she was jaundice. The hospital didn't give us any special instructions for her because her numbers weren't high enough to need any extra treatment, however, we did have to take her into the clinic 3 days this week to get her heel poked to check her bilirubin count. Thankfully by Wednesday her numbers were good enough that she didn't have to go back. Then we got a phone call from the clinic yesterday saying that a blood test she was supposed to have before leaving the hospital didn't turn out and she needed to go in to re-do it. Well, they needed to collect a lot more blood from her foot than for the bilirubin test and they ended up having to poke her heel twice because she stopped bleeding before they were done getting all the blood they needed. The poor little thing has needle pokes all over both of her heels. I said that if MeritCare calls me one more time I'm going to tell them they have the wrong number!!

Sophie has been adjusting really well to Reese. She LOVES her little sister so much and loves to give her hugs and kisses. She really likes it when we let her hold Reese. She is also very protective of her sister. I took Sophie to daycare one day this week and I brought Reese inside with us. All the little kids wanted to look at Reese and Sophie just started screaming and trying to get the kids away from her. She did not want ANYBODY looking at Reese.

Sophie is a very proud Big Sister!

Reese Grayson

The Little One Has Arrived

Ben, Sophie, and I welcomed the newest addition to our family this afternoon. Her name is Reese Grayson Richard and she arrived after just 5 hours of labor. She weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. and measured 19 3/4 inches long. The nurse started me on pitosin at 7:30 this morning and the doctor came in to break my water at 11:15. At about noon the nurses were trying to track down my doctor because the head was starting to crown. I ended up only having to push through 3 contractions and she was born at 12:25. We think she is just adorable!!

No Baby...

Unless I have this baby naturally I will not be having the baby today. The hospital had too many women come in to deliver this week that they had to cancel my induction. However, there will be enough of them checking out today that we rescheduled my induction for tomorrow morning. So Sophie and I are spending the day at home making sure we have everything all set for the baby. As soon as we have any news we will let everyone know.

We're having a baby!!

I saw my doctor this morning and he gave me some super exciting news. Basically I am ready to deliver this baby and I just need to go into labor. He told me that he would induce me on Wednesday morning if I don't go into labor before then. He tried to book a spot for me at the hospital for Monday or Tuesday but they were already full, so I get Wednesday. We have to be to the hospital at 6:30 Wednesday morning. I'm so excited that we know for sure that we will have a baby within the next 5 days. I think it'll also be nice if I do wait until Wednesday because we can make sure that we have everything in the car instead of going in at the spur of the moment and forgetting to grab the tube of toothpaste. So keep checking back for news that the new little one has arrived!!

36 Weeks

This photo was actually taken about 2 weeks ago. My blog account changed how to add pictures so it took me a little while to figure out what the heck I had to do. I have about 17 days until my due date and I'm getting really anxious to be done. I know the day will be here before I know it, but it's just really hard to wait!!

Sophie hit another milestone!!

I am super excited to share this news with everyone. Last night Sophie went poopy in the potty chair for the first time!! She had "that look" on her face so I asked her if she had to go potty and she went in to the bathroom and lifted the lid on her potty so we put her on there. She had already gone a little bit in her diaper but she finished on the potty. I'm sure there is still a long road ahead of us to get her completely potty trained, but YIPPEE!! She understands what the potty means!!
