16 More Days

I had a pre-natal appointment yesterday with one of my doctor's nurse practitioners. She checked me out to see how I'm progressing. I am 80% effaced (I need to be 100% to deliver) and I am dialated to 2 cm. I'm thinking "Wow!! It didn't take much effort on my part to get to this point, so the rest of this should be pretty easy!!" However, people having been laughing when I tell them that. They must not have progressed as well as I am!! I asked if she could tell how soon I'll deliver, but she couldn't. Apparently labor and birth is not an exact science so I could be sitting with these same measurements for awhile or I could progress rapidly at any point. There is just no way to know for sure. Ben's frustrated that we can't have an exact answer. So maybe we'll have a baby by the end of the weekend or maybe we'll have a baby in a couple weeks. Either way we'll keep you posted!
